Reporting a correction

If something on the site is wrong, we want to know, and we would rather hear it twice than not at all. Include as much of the following as you have. A link to the source helps us verify and fix it quickly.

  1. The page URLOr the tool you used and the search you ran.
  2. What we got wrongQuote the sentence or field if you can.
  3. A source, if you have oneA manufacturer bulletin, an NHTSA campaign number, or a regulation citation.

Substantive corrections are logged with a date on the page they affect, as described in our editorial policy.

What we can and cannot help with

Data and corrections

Wrong figures, broken lookups, missing fields, or a source that should be credited differently. Send it over.

Press, partnerships, advertising

Use the same address and say which it is in the subject line. Editorial coverage is never part of a commercial arrangement.

Individual vehicle advice

We cannot tell you whether a specific car is safe to drive, diagnose a fault, or confirm that a recall repair was done. A franchised dealer or a qualified technician can.

If you believe your vehicle is unsafe to drive

Do not wait for an email reply. Contact a franchised dealer for your make, or report a safety defect to NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 or nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem (opens in new tab).
